Sayo Aluko

Twenty fifteen,
How thou hath deposed supposed men into delinquent teens;
For you, a honest purpose has been swapped for a bloody crave,
For you, democracy can't even hope for a close shave.

Twenty fifteen, a destination, a place,
For your sake, a frenzied rat race;
For you, broken is the mace,
One wonders, wither diplomatic grace?

Twenty fifteen, thou art like a sin city,
that hateth simplicity;
Mammoth is thy negative energy and factional electricity,
Powering the egos of thy eclectic city

For you, a syndicate of sycophants,
Of true lies, they weave a symphony;
For you, a phalanx of charlatans,
Of half-truths, they shout-out a cacophony

For you, forgotten is leadership,
Rudder-less is our ship,
True governance, gone so cheap,
We, like lost sheep

Through the mirror of the many attrition of now,
Thou seem laden with imminent chaos;
Blood-shed, Bigotry, Blindness, Belligerence, Brawls,
Fear, Foes, Faults, Fiend, Fouls

 Name of an unsavoury blame game,
Fame for an unbecoming lame Dame;
Your creed, "to hell with shame!",
Twenty fifteen, Banality, all the same

Twenty fifteen, whether twenty or fifteen,
Will soon be seen;
Twenty fifteen,
Clamour for things unseen.
